Myrcene
aka beta-myrcene
Myrcene is the most abundant terpene in many cannabis cultivars, contributing earthy, musky, slightly fruity aromas reminiscent of mango and hops. It is associated with the heavier, sedating couch-lock effect characteristic of many indica-leaning strains. Myrcene-dominant chemovars include Granddaddy Purple, OG Kush, and Blue Dream.
Example: This batch tests myrcene-dominant at 0.8% — expect couch-lock.
Etymology: Derived from the Brazilian shrub Myrcia, from which it was first identified.
