Total THC

aka total-thc · tt

Total THC is a calculated value combining Delta-9 THC and the THC-equivalent of any THCA in a sample (typically THCA × 0.877 + Delta-9 THC). Some states test at point-of-sale or post-decarb to ensure compliance with the 0.3% federal hemp threshold; under that 'total THC' framework, virtually all THCA flower fails. States that test only Delta-9 leave THCA flower legal.

Example: States with total-THC testing effectively ban hemp-derived THCA flower.

Etymology: Adopted as a regulatory standard by the USDA Final Hemp Rule in 2021.
